The Rochester Men’s Premier Pairs sponsored by Moama Bowling Cub got underway on last weekend, unfortunately without Bob Knight, who had a previous appointment with the surgeon.
We all wish him a speedy recovery and have him zipping around the club again soon.
Meanwhile Club President Les Walles took over with a small band of helpers. Peter Stahl, Graeme Willis, John Boyd and Hedley Moon, Bruce Major and Jenny Major on the bar and had the whole show running on it’s tried and true formula.
Present were clubs from Auburn, Moama Mathoura, Lockington, Dingee, Tongala, Swan Hill City, City of Echuca, Essendon, Hooper’s Crossing, Kyneton, Bendigo East, Stanhope, Rich River, Linton, Lake Boga, Kyabram, Diamond Creek and of course Rochester.
The whole event was declared a huge success by all with the promise to be back next year.
There was a slight hiccup as two skippers, unaware that each game was 12 ends, were still playing, when the bus queue of waiting bowlers got big enough and the mistake was pointed out, the game stopped mid way through the 14th end.
There were two 6 game winners.
Overall winners were Mark Jones and Rod (sorry, Rod, didn’t get the surname) from Auburn and runners up, on a count back, were Bo Vandenberg (despite starting the competition with a bit of a cold) and Nick Pierce of Linton

On Saturday the 100 Up championship title for the ladies was decided.
In a fine display of draw bowling, Lorraine Appleby proved too consistent for Leanne McInnes.
Appleby was certainly on top of her game as she continually thwarted any serious challenge from her opponent to win the title 100-85.
Congratulations to both players on a great display of bowls and game spirit.
In the mens’ 100 Up championship Don Isgo is to play Ken Main with the winner to meet Ray Hanson in the final.
