ON TUESDAY August 29, the 11 and 12 year old students from Rochester Primary School travelled to Victoria Park in Echuca to compete in an athletics carnival.
The carnival involved five Echuca Schools and schools from Lockington, Moama and Rochester Primary.
The children had been training hard for many weeks during the lead up to the carnival, spending many lunch times and recesses practicing high jump, hurdles, discus and shot put as well as the relays.
The children showed great determination during their practices and loved having the opportunity to achieve their personal bests in many different events.
On the day of the carnival, children competed in eight different events, with their performances going towards a total team score for their school.
All the Rochester athletes gave their all in every event and they achieved some brilliant personal results.
The wonderful attitude of the students, helped them to produce an incredible win.
At the end of the day, Rochy Primary School won the overall trophy by more than 100 points.
The children were delighted with the result and should feel very proud of how hard they worked and how much they improved during our athletics unit.
On Wednesday it was the nine and 10 year old students turn to compete.
This was the first Athletics carnival for many of these students.
The school was again incredibly proud of how hard the students competed and the effort and determination they showed for the whole day.
The team did a great job to finish fourth overall.
Many students have now qualified to go on to the Regional Athletics Carnival in Bendigo and we wish those students all the best.
