Rochester Primary School's girls basketball team won two of three matches at the regional finals.

Rochester Primary School girls basketball team competed in the regional finals at Swan Hill on Friday last week.

The team included April Eeles, Charlee Roulston, Teal Hocking, Ellie Moroney, Poppy Read, Alannah Weeks and Kaitlyn Joyce and were coached by Vanessa Snelling and Kristy Roulston.

The girls first game was against St Mary’s Primary Swan Hill. The team played brilliantly and won 30-8.

They then came up against the powerful Girton Grammar School and lost by five points in what was a fantastic tussle. They then played their last game against Robinvale and blitzed the opposition 43-7.

Despite winning two out of their three games, the competition did not have crossover semi-finals, which meant Girton Grammar were the only team to go through to the final from the pool.

They were the eventual winners of the tournament and now go off to play in the state finals.

Rochester would have loved another chance to beat the side, as they believed they would have been a real chance.

The team had fantastic support for the day, with over 15 supporters making the two hour trip to cheer them on.
